SLOWWAVES

02.18.2026 - 04.14.2026

Artist: Xavier Allen

Project Summary:

The New Other presents ‘SLOWWAVE’, a solo exhibition by Xavier Allen that, through the senses, remembers a home that was never known. Xavier draws on her childhood spent walking the shores of Haida Gwaii collecting ocean-polished stones, hearing waves lap against the shore, and time stretching into eternity. This was the birthplace of her fascination with abstract form.

Xavier’s sculptures are inspired by energy and higher dimensions. Translated into natural materials like bronze, cement, and marble, each piece grounds the ethereal in the physical world. This connection is further enhanced via charcoal illustrations and suspended drawings captured in sheer silk. Viewers are able to experience every angle of a piece at once, walking through layers of this cohesive world.

A video installation, along with guided sound bath experiences, connects this new body of work to memories of the coast. As a certified practitioner, Xavier Allen offers a sound meditation to guide you through the senses as a way to deepen relaxation and your relationship to sculpture. Join The New Other and Xavier Allen as they create a sanctuary within the city that offers a return to wildness, safety, and a presence that stays in one’s heart no matter where they land.
